Dr. Tamsen Thorpe, Ph.D. is a Psychologist and Owner at Directions – A Center for Life Strategies in Morristown, NJ focusing on children, adults, families and couples. She was educated at Drew University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate degree in Psychology.
Dr. Thorpe earned her Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology at Stevens Institute of Technology. This was followed by a research career in New York City Corporations. She then earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at The California School of Professional Psychology in 1997.
Health Psychology was her chosen emphasis of study. Internships were in a medical hospital with oncology patients and an Employee Assistance Program. Postdoctoral training at UCLA included a yearlong rotation in the Anxiety Disorders Clinic. Employment at UCLA was in the area of family/genetic research. Dr. Thorpe, Ph.D. has further specialized training in the areas of couple’s counseling, infertility, sexuality, work place issues as well as stress reduction, parent coordination, family mediation and collaborative divorce.
Dr. Thorpe has conducted seminars at corporations on such topics as Stress Management, Emotional Intelligence and Relationships. She frequently is a guest lecturer at venues such as the New Jersey State Bar Association, Morris County Chamber of Commerce and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE).
